Mae 350 o blant yn aelodau yn ein hysgol nofio, Tonnau Tysul ac mae gwersi ar gyfer pob oedran a gallu, boed yn fabi 2 fis oed yn ein rhaglen ‘Swigod’, hyd at blant ar ein rhaglen Achubwyr Bywyd Iau. Rydyn ni’n deall bod pob plentyn yn wahanol felly mae dosbarth ar gyfer pob oedran a gallu.

Diogelwch yn Gyntaf
Mae diogelwch eich plentyn a’n staff yn holl bwysig i ni yng Nghalon Tysul. Yn ystod ein gwersi, yn ogystal â’r staff dysgu, fe fydd staff cymwysedig Achub Bywyd ar ddyletswydd. Fel rhan o fframwaith dysgu nofio, Nofio Cymru, mae pwyslais mawr ar ddysgu sut i fod yn ddiogel o gwmpas y dŵr mewn sefyllfaoedd gwahanol.
Ar gyfer plant sydd wedi dysgu digon o sgiliau nofio, mae ein rhaglen boblogaidd, Achubwyr Bywyd Iau yn dysgu sgiliau megis ymwybyddiaeth goroesi a sgiliau achub i helpu nhw a’u ffrindiau i fod yn ddiogel. Mae Calon Tysul yn Ganolfan Hyfforddiant Achrededig ar gyfer y Gymdeithas Achub Bywyd Brenhinol, felly rydyn ni’n gweithio tuag at y safonau uchaf diogelwch yn y dŵr.

Pa mor hir bydd fy mhlentyn ar bob lefel?
Mae pob plentyn yn wahanol ac yn datblygu ar ei gyflymder ei hun, felly mae’n anodd iawn dweud pa mor hir y dylai gymryd ym mhob Ton.
Rydym yn asesu pob plentyn yn barhaus yn ystod gwersi ac yn eu symud i’r lefel nesaf unwaith y byddant yn gallu cwblhau’r nodau ar gyfer pob lefel yn hyderus.

Oes angen i mi fynd mewn i'r pwll gyda fy mhlentyn?
Mae angen i oedolyn cyfrifol ddal/goruchwylio’r plentyn yn y dŵr ar gyfer dosbarthiadau Swigod a Sblash. Mae hwn fel arfer yn rhiant / gwarcheidwad, mam-gu neu dad-cu neu ffrind teulu 16 oed a hŷn.

Ym mha iaith y cyflwynir y gwersi?
Mae holl staff Calon Tysul yn gallu cyfathrebu ac addysgu yn y Gymraeg a’r Saesneg. Er bod gwersi’n cael eu cyflwyno yn Gymraeg yn bennaf, mae ein hathrawon yn fedrus wrth ddarparu cyfieithiad Saesneg i blant os oes ei angen arnynt.

Gall rhieni / gwarcheidwaid weld gwersi nofio o’r ardal wylio ddynodedig ar ochr y pwll. Gofynnwn i chi beidio â mynd i mewn i’r ardal addysgu tra bod gwersi ar y gweill. Er eu diogelwch eu hunain, rydym hefyd yn gofyn i chi sicrhau bod aelodau ifanc o’r teulu yn cael eu cadw draw o ochr y pwll a thu ôl i’r gât diogelwch.
Mae’n well gan lawer o rieni / gwarcheidwaid aros yn ardal y coridor yn hytrach nag eistedd wrth ymyl y pwll. Rydym hefyd yn gweld bod llawer o blant yn ymateb yn well i’r gwersi pan nad yw eu rhiant / gwarcheidwad ar ochr y pwll.

Oes angen het nofio neu wisg arbennig ar fy mhlentyn?
Dydyn ni ddim yn mynnu bod plant yn gwisgo gwisgoedd arbennig na hetiau nofio. Ein prif nôd yw bod eich plentyn yn gyfforddus ac yn hyderus yn y dŵr.
A yw gwersi ymlaen yn ystod gwyliau banc a gwyliau ysgol?
Ydyn, rydym yn cynnig gwersi am 48 wythnos y flwyddyn. Rydym yn cymryd egwyl o bythefnos dros y Pasg ac egwyl o bythefnos yn ystod y Nadolig. Ar wahân i hynny, mae gwersi yn parhau ar wyliau banc a hefyd yn ystod gwyliau haf a gwyliau hanner tymor ysgolion.

We are passionate about teaching children to swim and want to ensure that as many children as possible can enjoy the water as we are fortunate to live in an area that’s full of rivers and is close to the sea. Enjoying the water in a fun and safe way is our main aim and we take every step to ensure that your child and our staff are always safe.
With 350 children as members of our swim school, Tonnau Tysul, there are lessons for children of all ages and abilities whether it’s a 3 month old baby in our ‘Bubbles’ programme, or hildren in our Rookie Lifeguards programme. We understand that every child is different so there is a class for every age and ability.

Safety First
The safety of your child and our staff is very important to us at Calon Tysul. During our lessons, in addition to the teaching staff, qualified Lifeguard staff will be on duty. As part of the Swim Wales learn to swim framework, there is a great emphasis on learning how to be safe around the water in different situations.
For children who have learned enough swimming skills, our popular programme, Rookie Lifeguards, teaches skills such as survival awareness and rescue skills to help them and their friends be safe. Calon Tysul is an Approved Training Centre for the Royal Life Saving Society, so we work towards the highest standards of safety in the water.
Children with additional needs
We try our very best to ensure that our swimming lessons are accessible and available to the whole community. Our teachers aim to integrate children with disabilities or additional needs into the group lessons by adapting the lesson content for them. If that isn’t possible, we can offer private 1:1 lessons. Prices
Swimming lessons are paid for via Direct Debit.
- Lessons for one child: £25.00 per month
- Lessons for the second child in the family: £20.00 per month
- Lessons for the 3rd child in the family: £17.00 per month
Note, payment must be made for each child individually. Therefore, a household with three children in lessons will have three seperate Direct Debits: £25, £20, £17 = £62 per month. The name GOCARDLESS will appear on your bank statement.

How long will my child spend at each level?
Every child is different and develop at their own pace, so it’s very difficult to say how long it should take in each Wave.
We continously assess each child during lessons and move them to the next level once they are able to confidently complete the outcomes for each level.
Is there an assistant in the pool during lessons?
We have assistants in the pool for Wave 1 lessons.
Do I need to go in to the pool with my child?
A responsible adult needs to hold / supervise the child in the water for Bubbles and Splash classes. This is usually a parent / guardian, grandparent or family friend aged 16 and above.
For children in Waves 1 – 8, Multi Aquatics and Rookie Lifeguard, adults are not permitted to enter the pool during the lesson. We also ask that parents / guardians do not come into the teaching area on pool side during lessons.
Which language are lessons delivered in?
All Calon Tysul staff are able to communicate and teach in both Welsh and English. Whilst lessons are predominantly delivered in Welsh, our teachers are skilled at providing English language translation to children should they need it.
Can I watch my child in the lesson?
Parents / guardians are able to view swimming lessons from the designated viewing area on poolside. We ask that you do not enter the teaching area whilst lessons are in progress. For their own safety, we also ask you to ensure that young family members are kept away from poolside and behind the safety gate.
Many parents / guardians prefer to wait in the corridor area rather than sit on poolside. We also find that many children respond better to the lessons when their parent / guardian is not on poolside.
If your child is aged 8 and above, you do not have to stay in the building and can collect your child at the end of the lesson.
Does my child need a swimming hat or special costume?
We do not require children to wear special costumes or swimming hats. We just want your child to be comfortable and confident in the water.
Are lessons on during bank and school holidays?
Yes, we offer lessons for 48 weeks of the year. We take a two-week break at Easter and a two-week break during Christmas. Apart from that, lessons continue on bank holidays and also during school summer and half term holidays.
Do you have changing facilities?
Yes, we have male, female and accessible changing facilities and lockers available.
How much do the lessons cost?
You pay for your lessons via Direct Debit and we use the Go Cardless platform to do this. All lessons cost £25 per month. However, we do offer sibling discounts, so if you have a second child in lessons, you pay an additional £20 per month. If you have any further children in lessons, they each pay an additional £17 per month. Therefore, a family with three children in lessons will pay £25+£20+£17 = £62 per month.
Furthermore, we do not charge an additional fee for the progress certificates and badges.
How do I cancel my lessons?
If you would like to cancel your lessons, please get in touch with our Aquatics Coordinator via email – nofio@calontysul.cymru
Lessons are paid for via Direct Debit each month, so you can cancel this yourself or ask us to do so. There is no minimum term for swimming lessons, so you can leave the programme at any time without financial penalty.
We would appreciate it if you could contact us if you are experiencing any problems and we will do our best to help.
Do you offer refunds?
We only issue refunds if we need to cancel your lesson for unforeseen circumstances, such as pool closure or teacher illness. If you would like to claim a refund, please pick up a refund request form at our reception – we do not have an automatic refund facility, unfortunately.
What is the pool temperature?
We normally keep the pool temperature between 28 – 29.5 °C. Due to rising heating costs, we have been forced to try and save money where we can, so in the warmer months, we try to lower the temperature to around 28°C.
Do you offer 1-2-1 private lessons?
We have very limited capacity, therefore, we are only able to offer this service to children that have additional needs or disabilities. Please contact us if you would like to learn more about our 1-2-1 lessons.
Do you sell swimming equipment?
Yes, we have a good selection of goggles, Calon Tysul-branded poncho towels, swimming nappies, swimming hats and nose plugs all available to purchase at reception. We don’t currently sell swimming costumes.
